What to do in the Dnieper on the weekend to relax and be inspired, tells the guide Olga Vlokh.
Take a walk along the longest embankment
The longest embankment in Europe is located in the Dnieper. Its length is about 30 km, and it is conditionally divided into 3 parts: Zavodskaya, Sicheslavskaya and Pobedy. Tourists and locals walk, mainly in the central part. There are fountains, sculptures, shops, restaurants. City Day is celebrated here and festivals are held. Sicheslavskaya Embankment in the Dnieper is a must-see, because even the city's logo since 2017 is “Wave”.

Ride a yacht along the Dnieper river
There are many entertainments on the Embankment, but a separate note should be a boat trip along the Dnieper River. You can swim on a motor ship, a pirate schooner, a motor boat, a sailing yacht, a Sapboard or a kayak. The “season on the water” lasts from mid-May to mid-September. Motor ships and yachts are moored along the central embankment, which, according to the schedule, collect those who wish for hourly walks. Also, a large or small boat can be rented to sail along your own route or organize a holiday on the water. Book in advance or search on the spot.

Go to Monastyrsky Island
From the Embankment in the Dnieper, cross the footbridge to Monastyrsky Island. There you will find: a waterfall, a temple, one of the largest monuments to Taras Shevchenko in Ukraine, a Ferris wheel, an aquarium and much more. And the picturesque Merefa-Kherson Bridge, which crosses the island, is the only railway bridge in Europe with a curvilinear design. Also on the island is one of the city's beaches.

Listen to “Classics on Pierce
For more than three years, the Cultural Capital program has been operating in Dnipro, within the framework of which many events have been organized. For example, large-scale festivals “Jazz on the Dnieper”, BeZVIZ, Book Spase Fest. On the weekend from May 20 to September 20, free concerts of modern, jazz or classical music can be attended at the Sicheslavskaya Embankment Pier. Check the schedule of events and join the whole family in classical art in this original format.

Go to the Green Guy
In 2018, after a comprehensive reconstruction, the Green Guy Park was opened. And in a few weeks it has become one of the favorite places for children and adults to relax. There is now a beautiful landscaped area, a large original playground. The park is still being renovated. So, on June 1, 2020, two renovated alleys with hanging swings and decorative flamingos appeared in the park. The second alley leads to a barbecue area: in wooden houses you can drink hot coffee or have a mini-picnic. We recommend coming to the park in the morning (and preferably on Monday morning), because there are a lot of tourists here on weekends and in the afternoon.
Visit the Menorah
If you are already in Dnipro and it is not Saturday, then you just need to go to the Menorah. Jews have lived in the Dnieper since its foundation in 1776. By 1897 they made up 36.3% of the city's population. Today the Jewish community of Dnipro is the largest in Ukraine. And the imposing Menorah Center, built for her in 2012, is the largest Jewish center in Europe. There are conference rooms, shops, cafes, various organizations. The Jewish Memory and the Holocaust in Ukraine Museum, the world's third largest memorial complex dedicated to the Holocaust, deserves special mention. The museum is located on three floors of a building with an area of about 3 thousand square meters. m. There are also special paid “tours of the Menorah”.

See the lights of Yekaterinoslav Boulevard
The first name of the Dnieper is Yekaterinoslav. And Ekaterinoslavsky Boulevard, although small, is very compactly located luxury establishments of the city. And it is especially atmospheric here in the gentle lights of a warm summer evening. Here you get just great photos, like on the streets of the most fashionable cities in Europe. Also on the boulevard there is an interesting place – “Reading Arch”. There is a free exchange of books and thoughts: “Living BookCrossing”.

Go to the museum
Of course, the Dnieper does not have such a rich 1000-year history as , for example, at his neighbor Poltava. But there are also worthy museums here. For example, the Historical Museum named after D.I. Yavornitsky on the avenue of the same name. Nearby is the house-museum of Dmitry Yavornitsky, who was a historian, archaeologist, ethnographer, folklorist, lexicographer, and writer. There is also a museum center of a native of Dnipro, a religious philosopher of the theosophical direction, Helena Blavatsky. In 2014, the Time Machine technical museum was opened, where you can “jump back” 50 or 100 years ago. If you are not in a museum mood, here you can just have a bite to eat in the “retro cafe” surrounded by exhibits. There are other museums in Dnipro: literary, art, space. So you will surely find something that suits your interests.
