Bosnia and Herzegovina: Useful information for Ukrainians

Pets

For entry with pets, when crossing the border, you must present medical certificates of origin and vaccinations of pets issued in the country of origin of the animal. More details at the link.

Conditions for a long stay

There is a visa-free regime between Ukraine and BiH, according to which citizens of Ukraine can stay in the country for 30 days within a period of 60 days.

However, from May 6, 2022, citizens of Ukraine who left Ukraine because of the war can be granted permission for temporary stay in BiH for up to 6 months for humanitarian reasons

strong>. This is possible if they can provide for themselves during such a stay (funds to cover the cost of food, accommodation, possible medical expenses). Such expenses can be guaranteed by cash in convertible currency, bank cards that allow receiving funds through the banking system, or individuals or legal entities registered in BiH that undertake to cover these expenses. No social benefits are expected.

Citizens of Ukraine, being in BiH for tourism purposes, are required to register with the Service for Foreigners or the relevant territorial police unit within 48 hours from the moment of crossing the border.

Temporary residence permit in BiH can also be granted subject to general conditions, which are:

  • Family reunification,
  • Education,
  • Working with a work permit
  • Working without a work permit
  • Other good reason or
  • Ownership of real estate if there is an active connection with BiH.
