From February 1, 2018, the law prohibiting smoking on beaches at 24 beaches in 15 provinces of Thailand came into full force.
Now smoking is only allowed in specially equipped areas. The fine for smoking outside this area is $3,000 or 1 year in prison.
Please note that the following popular resorts are non-smoking:
o. Phuket, Pattaya, Hua Hin, about. Koh Samui and more.
Please find a smoking area before you smoke. It is marked with the Smoking Zone sign.
In test mode, the ban began on November 1, 2017. The reason for the introduction of restrictions was a study
conducted on Patong Beach, Phuket Island. 138,000 cigarette butts were found on a 2-kilometre stretch of beach.
This is a national park, after all.
