Gamla Stan
Stockholm's Old Town, or “Gamla Stan” as it is called in Swedish, is one of the largest medieval districts remaining in Europe and Stockholm's most important historical landmark.
Walking along it, you plunge headlong into the atmosphere of unique and inimitable architectural structures, cathedrals, monuments and sculptures that have preserved the memory of many historical events, secrets and mysteries, amazing stories and amazing facts about Stockholm.
City Hall
Stockholm City Hall is certainly one of the main tourist attractions in Stockholm, a symbol of the Swedish capital. The town hall hosts meetings of the city authorities, important political negotiations are held, and in its Gold and Blue Halls, a banquet after the Nobel Prizes is held annually on December 10th. It is worth noting that the Golden Hall is decorated with a mosaic of more than 18 million gilded tiles depicting scenes from the history of Sweden.
Tourists are offered daily tours in the town hall in Swedish and English, it is also possible to order excursions in Russian. In addition, a magnificent panorama of Stockholm opens from the observation deck of the 106-meter tower of the town hall.
Stockholm Metro
The Stockholm metro can rightfully be considered a real museum; most tourists perceive it as a landmark. It is known all over the world for its unique design. Many travelers who have been here call the subway a real art gallery. Here you can see amazing grottoes, ancient Greek sculptures, classical architectural products, wall reliefs, mosaics, pop art and fountains. Often underground stations become the venue for exhibitions. At this time, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the work of hundreds of talented artists.
ABBA Museum
The island of Djurgården is home to the youngest and most interactive museum in Stockholm – the museum of one of the most famous Swedish bands – ABBA. The exhibition, as you might guess, includes personal items, brilliant stage costumes of the band members, musicians' instruments, a collection of records and much more. But most importantly, in the museum everyone can feel like the fifth member of the legendary group: you can sing along with your idols or try yourself as a sound engineer. And, of course, here you can just dance to the incendiary music of ABBA.
Karlson House
Probably, any adult and child knows that it is in Stockholm that Carlson lives – the best friend of the Kid. To get to this magical house, you need to get to the Vazastan district, where the famous writer lived. This is an ordinary green house. Local authorities installed a small building on the roof, a couple of square meters in size. This is where Carlson lives.
Everyone can go up to the roof of Carlson's house. Inside the house is a real mess – everything is turned upside down. An unmade crib, a bunch of toys, a cluttered desk – this is definitely the home of “a man in his prime.” From the window of the house, by the way, a simply stunning view of the whole of Stockholm opens.
