Where to exchange hryvnia for other currencies in Europe?

On July 25, the National Bank of Ukraine canceled the permission for Ukrainian commercial banks to purchase hryvnia in cash from foreign financial institutions. In this regard, the banks of the Raiffeisen group in Austria, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic are suspending the exchange of cash hryvnia for foreign currency from today.

Other banks have not yet reported such a decision.

Most banks accept banknotes in denominations from 100 to 1,000 hryvnias.

Poland

Where to change? At PKO Bank Polski branches. A complete list of branches where the exchange is possible can be found here.

Limit: up to UAH 10,000 in cash per person.

Documents:you need to have a passport in the form of an ID card, an international passport or a PESEL number.

Austria

Where to change? At the branches of Erste Bank Oesterreich.

Limit: up to 300 EUR/day.

Documents: You need to have a passport with you.

Belgium

Where to change? At the cash desks of the National Bank of Belgium or branches of Belfius, Beobank, BNP Paribas Fortis, CBC, ING, KBC and KBC Brussels.

Limit: UAH 10,000

Documents:Temporary protection certificate.

Hungary

Where to change? At OTP Bank branches, the list is available here.

Limit: up to UAH 15,000 per transaction.

Documents: You need to have a passport with you.

Germany

Where to change? At Bundesbank branches. The course can be checked on the website bundesbank.de.

Limit: up to 10000 UAH.

Documents: You need to have a passport with you.

Moldova

Where to change? OTP Bank. The list of branches is here.

Limit: up to 5000 UAH/day.

Documents: You need to have an internal passport in the form of an ID-card or a foreign passport.

Netherlands

Where to change? At GWK Travelex offices.

Limit: up to 10000 UAH.

Documents: an internal passport in the form of an ID-card or a foreign passport.

Italy

Where to change? In the partner branches of the Bank of Italy, the list is here.

Limit: up to 10000 UAH.

Documents: an internal passport in the form of an ID-card or a foreign passport.

Romania

Where to exchange money? Banca Comercială Română. The list of branches where the exchange is possible is available here.

Limit: up to 1000 RON.

Documents: You need to have an internal passport in the form of an ID-card or a foreign passport.

Switzerland

Where to change? At the branches of UBS Switzerland AG and Credit Suisse.

Limit: UAH 10,000

Documents: temporary residence permit in Switzerland.

Sweden

Where to change? In the branches of the largest Forex exchange company.

Limit: UAH 10,000

Documents: temporary residence permit in Sweden.
