At the same time, a number of amendments were made to the protection law. Here are the changes awaiting Ukrainian refugees:

residence permit – an identity card of a third-country citizen – is issued by the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs for a period of two years.
travel documents issued in Ukraine and which have expired will be considered valid in Latvia until February 28, 2024;
From July 1, 2023, Ukrainian refugees will have the right to attend free Latvian language lessons.

To date, more than 43,000 Ukrainians have received temporary protection in Latvia.

We also recall that an important update for Ukrainians has begun to operate in the United States. From November 21, Ukrainian refugees automatically receive the right to work from the first day upon arrival. The right will be valid for the first 90 days, after which you will need to obtain a permit, which will be free.
